Health and Safety Representative (HSR) refresher

    This one-day refresher course must be completed by all HSRs each year. It revisits the learning outcomes of the initial five-day HSR training and provides updated information about current best practice and any relevent changes to Health and Safety legislation and regulation.

    It covers:

    • Interpreting the Work Health and Safety legislative framework and its relationship to the HSR
    • Identifying key parties, legislative obligations and duties
    • Establishing representation in the workplace
    • Participating in consultation and issues resolution
    • Pepresenting members in the WHS risk management process
    • Issuing of a Provisional Improvement Notice (PIN) and directing the cessation of work

    A new Work Health and Safety Act and new Regs came into effect in WA in March 2022. The new Act and Regs include significant changes to the laws that protect the safety and dignity of workers. All HSRs should make sure you have attended a refressher since these new laws came into effect.

    Certification

    There is no formal qualification or assessment for this course. You will receive certification of participation and attendance on completion.
