Crystalline silica exposure prevention

    Course Code: 10830NAT

    This course enables workers to recognise the workplace health and safety risks and hazards of silica dust and to put in place safe systems of work to prevent exposure.

    The course covers:

    • Identifying crystalline silica containing products
    • Relevant legislation, guidelines and standards
    • Consequences, hazards and risks to health due to exposure
    • Exposure standards
    • Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
    • Hierarchy of Controls
    • Systems for prevention of exposure
    • Risk assessment and hazard prevention (SWMS)

    All course content is delivered giving consideration to each participant’s role or job within the construction industry and is focused on delivering a safe workplace for themselves and for their fellow workers.

    Certification

    On successful completion of this course, students will be given a Statements of Attainment of the minimum required training in crystalline silica exposure prevention in the workplace.
