    BREATHE EASY: SILICA SAFETY IN CONSTRUCTION

    Learn how to identify and manage silica dust risks on-site with practical strategies that
    protect your health, meet legal requirements, and keep your team safe.

    Silica dust might be invisible, but its risks are very real. This practical, no nonsense course
    gives construction workers the skills and know how to identify silica hazards on-site and
    take action before anyone’s health is on the line.

    Whether you are on the tools, managing a crew, or handling site safety, everything in this
    course is designed to fit the real demands of construction work. Learn how to protect
    yourself and your mates while staying compliant, and go home safe at the end of the day.

    Pre-requisites:
    There are no formal pre-requisites for this course

    CSTC requirement:
    A general understanding of WHS practices in the workplace is recommended

    What you will learn:

    • Spot the common products that contain crystalline silica
    • Understand the health consequences of exposure, and why you do not want to end up there
    • Get across the latest exposure standards and safety legislation
    • Read and use Safety Data Sheets (SDS) effectively
    • Apply the Hierarchy of Controls where it matters most
    • Develop and follow safe systems of work, including SWMS
    • Put prevention strategies in place that make sense for your specific trade or role

    Assessment
    Open book written questions and practical assessments undertaken in class

    Certification:
    A Statement of Attainment for NAT10830001 Prevent crystalline silica exposure will be
    issued upon successful completion of the course
